In this FAQ, we'll explain how to activate it correctly.\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1. Log in with the correct account<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You may be signed in with the wrong account\u2014for example, a personal account that doesn't have a Microsoft 365 subscription. By signing in to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/account.microsoft.com\/account\/Account\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Microsoft 365<\/a>&nbsp;You can check whether your Microsoft account is linked. If it isn't linked, you simply won't be able to sign in; in that case, proceed to step 2.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2. Check for multiple copies of Office<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Activation may fail if you have multiple copies of Office installed. To activate the software, you must uninstall all versions of Office that you are not using.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>1.<\/strong>&nbsp;Go to Start &gt; Control Panel &gt; Programs and Features<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>2.<\/strong>&nbsp;In the \u201cSearch Programs and Features\u201d box (top right corner), search for the word \u201cOffice.\u201d You may see multiple versions of Office listed here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alistar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/issues_office_activatie.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-54311\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you see one or more versions listed here, right-click the version you're not using and select&nbsp;<strong>Delete.&nbsp;<\/strong>Do you see only one version? If so, proceed to step 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>3.<\/strong>&nbsp;Once the uninstallation is complete, restart the computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>4.<\/strong>&nbsp;Open an Office app (such as Outlook or Word) and sign in when prompted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still haven't activated Office 365? If so, proceed to step 3.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3.
