At the \u2018<em>\u2019Microsoft Dynamics 365 First Look\"\u2014<\/em>Numerous new products were showcased at the event. You can read a summary of this in our blog post: <a href=\"https:\/\/alistar.net\/en\/microsoft-dynamics-365\/\">Microsoft Dynamics 365<\/a>: Why, what, and when?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this blog post, we'll take a closer look at the new and simplified <strong>Microsoft Dynamics 365 Licenses<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Microsoft has the current model of Dynamics <a href=\"https:\/\/alistar.net\/en\/crm\/\">CRM<\/a>-licenses have been addressed. No matter where the focus lies within your company, <strong>With Microsoft Dynamics 365, you'll be able to get started from a single app<\/strong>, for example, the <em>Sales<\/em> app. If you wish, you will be able to gradually activate other business processes, such as marketing and customer service, within Microsoft Dynamics 365 at a later date. Microsoft is also carrying this approach over into the new licensing model. The <strong>major advantage<\/strong> is that you <strong>You'll only pay for the services you actually use<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Business Edition vs. Enterprise Edition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We\u2019d like to reiterate that the term \u2018module\u2019 will be phased out, as will the term \u2018Microsoft Dynamics CRM.\u2019 Instead of modules, you\u2019ll be able to choose from various <strong>apps (applications)<\/strong> within Microsoft Dynamics 365. You will also have the option to choose between two editions of Microsoft Dynamics 365: the Business Edition and the Enterprise Edition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Business Edition<\/strong> is optimized for organizations with up to 250 employees. In this edition, <em>Madeira Project<\/em>&nbsp;will be included and will henceforth <em>Financials<\/em> are called. In addition, the <em>Sales<\/em> and <em>Marketing<\/em> Apps will be added. The Business edition will be available only via the cloud and will not be released until a later phase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Enterprise Edition<\/strong> The solution is optimized for organizations with more than 250 employees. In this release, the CRM and ERP (AX) products as we know them today will be available through the following apps: <em>Sales<\/em>, <em>Field Service<\/em>, <em>Operations<\/em>, <em>Customer Service<\/em>, <em>Project Service Automation<\/em> and <em>Marketing<\/em>. In addition, with this Enterprise edition, you'll also be able to work with the <em>Power Apps<\/em> and <em>Microsoft Flow<\/em>. The Enterprise edition also uses Online and On-Premise \u2018<em>\u2019dual-use rights\"<\/em>. This means you will have the right to use the apps both on-premises and in the cloud.<br>\nThe Enterprise edition of Microsoft Dynamics 365 will be available worldwide starting November 1, 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Microsoft Dynamics 365 Licenses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alistar.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Afbeelding-Microsoft-Dynamics-365-licenties-07.webp\" alt=\"Microsoft Dynamics 365 Licenses: Overview\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1) License per App<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>For both the Business Edition and the Enterprise Edition<\/strong>, you will be able to purchase a Microsoft Dynamics 365 license <strong>via app<\/strong>. For example, a salesperson has only the <em>Sales<\/em> app required. You will then be able to purchase a license for the specific <em>Sales<\/em> app. The seller will then have access to all the features available within this app.<br>\nMicrosoft has observed that purchasing these licenses is still the most common practice. For this reason, this licensing model will be retained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2) License per Plan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Microsoft has also developed a completely new type of license, namely the licenses <strong>per plan<\/strong>. Basically, Microsoft bundles certain apps within various <em>plans<\/em>, just as they do with Office 365.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>License per Plan: Enterprise Edition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the <strong>Enterprise Edition<\/strong> For Microsoft Dynamics 365, a distinction will be made between the licenses for each plan, between \u2018<em>Enterprise Plan 1\u2032<\/em>&nbsp;and \u2018<em>Enterprise Plan 2\u2032<\/em>.<br>\n<em><strong>Enterprise Plan 1<\/strong> <\/em>will include all existing CRM Online products, specifically the <em>Sales<\/em> app, the <em>Field Service<\/em> app, the <em>Customer Service<\/em> app, the <em>Project Service Automation<\/em> app and later the <em>Marketing<\/em> app. In addition, this plan will allow you to work with the <em>PowerApps<\/em>.<br>\nThe <em><strong>Enterprise Plan 2<\/strong><\/em> combines Plan 1 with the <em>Operations<\/em> app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here's a concrete example: Your customer service representative needs access to the apps <em>Customer Service<\/em>, <em>Operations<\/em> and <em>Sales<\/em> to ensure the best possible service. Instead of purchasing three separate apps, it will be more cost-effective to purchase a plan. With this plan, your customer service representative will be able to switch between different business apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>License per Plan: Business Edition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the Business edition, there will be a <strong>business plan<\/strong> exist. More information on this will follow later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3) Team Member License<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A <em><strong>team member<\/strong><\/em> has read access to all Microsoft Dynamics 365 data, as well as full access to \u2018<em>accounts<\/em>\u2019, \u2018<em>contacts<\/em>\u2019, \u2018<em>activities<\/em>\u2019 and \u2018<em>\u2019custom\" <\/em>entities. This license will be particularly well-suited for \u2018lighter\u2019 users of Microsoft Dynamics 365.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4) Cost-effective plan for SMEs<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since the Business edition will not be available in all countries as of November 1, Microsoft has a <strong>affordable plan for SMEs<\/strong> developed. This formula will be available <strong>Effective December 1, 2016<\/strong> for <strong>new<\/strong> Microsoft Dynamics 365 customers. It is aimed at small and medium-sized businesses that need a maximum of 25 licenses and only the <em>Sales<\/em> want to use the app. Only <strong>Certified Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) partners<\/strong> will be able to offer this plan.
