For their annual special issue VOKA—the Flemish network of businesses—discussed digital transformation with Jan Hofman, managing partner at Alistar and a member of VOKA. This interview discusses the Accelerated wave of digitization among Flemish companies and government organizations.
Demand for intelligent business applications has never been higher, and that makes sense, says Jan Hofman: “Digital tools allow you to work smarter, improve customer experiences, and gain actionable insights from data.“
In Flanders, many companies are currently focusing on CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems, which centralize all data on customers and prospects. The next step is to automate other processes as well. Jan Hofman: “By digitizing repetitive tasks, knowledge workers can perform more meaningful work, and employers can deploy their human capital more efficiently. Digital technology also makes it possible to drastically improve the customer experience.”

In the past, having custom digital applications developed was quite expensive. That changed a few years ago. Microsoft, a partner of Alistar, is firmly committed to democratizing its software.
