Q: What is Microsoft Dynamics 365?
Dynamics 365 is Microsoft’s new cloud-based business software and includes both CRM and ERP-options. Instead of a single large application, it consists of several apps built on the same data model and therefore capable of integrating very closely with one another:
- Dynamics 365 for Sales
- Dynamics 365 for Marketing
- Dynamics 365 for Customer Service
- Dynamics 365 for Project Service Automation
- Dynamics 365 for Field Service
- Dynamics 365 for Operations
- Dynamics 365 for Financials (not yet available in Belgium)
Dynamics 365 It replaces Dynamics CRM and is the successor to Dynamics AX, which will now be known as Dynamics 365 for Operations. With this approach, Microsoft aims to help everyone become more productive and successful in their jobs, enabling companies to effectively navigate digital transformation, according to CEO Satya Nadella on LinkedIn.
Q: Is Dynamics 365 for large or small businesses?
Both.
Voor grote bedrijven (%20250 medewerkers) bundelt Microsoft volgende apps in de Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition: Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Field Service, Project Service Automation & Operations.
For smaller businesses (fewer than 250 employees), Microsoft offers the following apps in the Dynamics 365 Business Edition: Sales, Marketing, Customer Service & Financials. This ‘Business Edition’ is not yet available in Belgium.
As a business, you can choose which apps to enable in your bundle or edition.
Q: Will Microsoft Dynamics NAV be replaced by Dynamics 365?
Microsoft Dynamics NAV remains separate ERP system focuses on medium-sized businesses and has its own vision for the future and product roadmap that looks several years ahead. Dynamics NAV can be integrated with Dynamics 365.
The Dynamics 365 for Financials app from the Dynamics 365 suite is loosely based on Dynamics NAV Navision but contains less detailed ERP functionality.

Q: If I choose Dynamics NAV today, can I integrate it with Dynamics 365 or switch to it later?
Yes.
Dynamics NAV 2017 offers integration capabilities with Dynamics 365 (as it previously did for Dynamics CRM), and Microsoft provides options for converting your NAV licenses to Dynamics 365 licenses. Microsoft reviews these on a case-by-case basis.
Q: Can you customize Dynamics 365?
You cannot customize the standard Dynamics 365 apps. These Dynamics 365 apps are hosted in the cloud and are automatically updated by Microsoft. However, you can add additional functionality using apps from the AppSource store.
In addition, there are a number of Microsoft apps available that integrate deeply with Dynamics 365—such as Power BI, Office 365, PowerApps, and Microsoft Flow—so you can work with your data in Dynamics 365 however you want. Many of these apps—such as Power BI, PowerApps, etc.—can also be used for Dynamics NAV 2017.
Q: How much does Dynamics 365 cost?
