Doesburg Components Can Respond More Quickly with Business Central

Working with Alistar, the transition from Exact to Microsoft Dynamics resulted in improved traceability, automation, and real-time data insights, leading to greater efficiency.

Doesburg Components is a supplier of high-quality cast iron components to customers in the truck, engine, and agricultural sectors. As a Tier 1 supplier, the company handles the entire process, from development to the delivery of “ready-to-use” final components.

Doesburg Components specializes in the machining of cast iron components. We use a state-of-the-art CNC machine park for this purpose. In addition to manual machining centers, Doesburg Components also has fully automated production lines. The latest technological advancements in vision systems and 2D and 3D measurement technologies have been integrated into the production process. In this way, we ensure consistent quality by developing and manufacturing in accordance with IATF 16949 certification.

In addition to machining the components, they also handle assembly, painting, and industrial cleaning, including any necessary leak tests. What sets Doesburg Components apart is that their expertise extends beyond mere mechanical machining. They also specialize in the development and procurement of castings and ensure consistent quality by designing and manufacturing in accordance with IATF 16949 certification.

“Professional in achieving goals, with a collaborative approach to implementation without compromising on quality.”

Rob Paulissen, Managing Director

Blueprint

Before implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Doesburg Components was using Exact ERP, which was outdated and no longer supported. As a result, we frequently encountered errors that undermined our efficiency and reliability. We also needed more in-depth information—such as traceability and changes in customer needs—to effectively source raw materials.

During the evaluation process for a new ERP system, four vendors were selected and their offerings were discussed. From these four vendors, a shortlist of two was created. A blueprint was developed with Alistar, and they were ultimately selected to implement Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. The good rapport, the most tailored solution to Doesburg Components’ needs, and the logical approach to further improving functionality were the deciding factors.

Partnership & Team Spirit

The preliminary phase was positive and constructive, thanks to the way they asked probing questions and challenged us to identify our actual needs. Alistar handled the implementation well; we at Doesburg Components may have taken the implementation a bit too lightly. Alistar brought this to our attention in a constructive and encouraging manner. After implementation, we quickly recognized the benefits of automation, and this led to a further need for automation. A number of our requests have already been fulfilled.

The go-live was tough. It was a major change—moving from something familiar to something better—that we hadn’t quite mastered yet. The go-live did result in some extra hours, but because the organization had to move forward, we got to know Dynamics inside and out in a short amount of time. Users are now fully proficient with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. We can immediately retrieve the desired information from the system and, as a result, have more detailed information than most of our customers.

What sets Alistar apart is its professionalism in achieving goals, with a collaborative approach to execution that never compromises on quality. In addition to business and project-related objectives, there is also room for the social aspect, which fosters a sense of teamwork and partnership.

What Business Central Has Actually Delivered

Although we were unable to achieve an FTE reduction, the implementation of Business Central did result in a massive increase in revenue.

In addition, Doesburg Components is now able to “respond quickly.” Below, you can see what that means.
