Following an extensive selection process that compared Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV, Microsoft Dynamics™ AX (Axapta), Glovia, Ridder, and Inforvision, among others, Linssen Yachts awarded the contract for the delivery and implementation of the Shipyard Module (now ProVision365). The new solution enabled Linssen to plan yacht construction based on finite capacity.
The key word at Linssen Yachts is insight. Insight into the schedule, both by hull number and across the entire shipyard workload. Insight into customer configurations and changes throughout the construction process. Insight into hours worked and materials purchased. Insight into ‘expected’ hours and purchases. Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV, supplemented by the product configurator and the graphical planning board, provides these insights for Linssen.
The customer comes first. Customers have high expectations for a valuable asset such as a Linssen yacht—regarding quality, design, and customer-specific modifications. The shipyard faces the challenge of meeting these expectations. This is only possible with a well-automated system.
The main reasons Linssen chose Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV and Alistar were:
⋅ How well the solution aligns with Linssen's process
⋅ The ability to work on a project basis while still planning holistically
⋅ Alistar's industry expertise and references
⋅ The proven quality of Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV
Why upgrade to Business Central?
In 2019, Linssen Yachts decided to upgrade to ProVision365, based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Although the current system was still working well, it was time for a newer version because the current version was no longer supported. In addition to this technological reason, Linssen Yachts needed to adopt a more production-oriented approach in some departments.
The main advantage of the one-to-one upgrade is that the learning curve for users and key users remains minimal because the processes remain the same. This allows users to quickly get used to the new interface and its additional features. Familiar information can be found quickly, and searching is also much simpler. Users reported being very pleased with the new version and the current way of working.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Alistar project team (consisting of Robert Heerkens—Consultant, Linda van der Grient—Consultant, and John Lesage—Operations Manager) was not present on-site for the go-live for the first time in Alistar’s history. Naturally, everyone worked from the office or from home. Fortunately, thanks to excellent communication among the team, everything went perfectly. Since then, with the easing of restrictions (while maintaining social distancing), we were still able to celebrate with a cake, and we look back on a fun and successful project. We look forward to a very long and enjoyable partnership with Linssen Yachts!
