Microsoft Copilot app for Android and iOS

Microsoft Copilot, the AI assistant designed to help teams collaborate more efficiently across various Microsoft programs, has also been available as a mobile app since late 2023. The Copilot app is the successor to Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise and is available for free download on Google Play and the App Store, but what can you actually do with it?

Launched with premeditation

It's not all that surprising that Microsoft has developed a standalone app, since this allows the software giant to offer an optimized experience to its users. All you have to do is open the app and type in the command, whereas before you had to search for it in a browser or search engine first.

Getting Started with the Microsoft Copilot App

Once you've accepted the terms and conditions and set your location preferences, you're ready to get started. We recommend signing in with a Microsoft account and using GPT-4 so you can get the most out of the app. After that, you can use the app however you like. Just like the desktop version for Windows, the AI tool can help with writing text, generating images, and all sorts of other tasks.

One of the advantages is that you can enter prompts (commands) in three ways: via the microphone (you’ll need to grant permission for this first), via the keyboard, and by uploading photos using the camera.

What can you do with the Microsoft Copilot app?

At its core, Microsoft Copilot is just like any other chatbot. Ask the program whatever you want, and if you run into a limit, it will stop you. You can use it for a wide range of tasks: think of drafting a business email, explaining a complex topic, or translating something to or from another language. You can include recent web results in the answers at no extra cost. With ChatGPT, you have to subscribe to do that.

Copilot also includes an image generator. To power this feature, the tech giant uses DALL-E, developed by OpenAI. You describe the image you want to create and make adjustments as needed. Keep in mind, however, that your results are generated based on other people’s artwork and images.

The biggest advantage? You can use the app anywhere on your cell phone, whereas the desktop version requires a PC or laptop. Need to quickly draft a text for a LinkedIn post while on the bus, or get advice or inspiration for a meeting? No problem—with the Microsoft Copilot app, it’s done in a flash.

Don't worry, Windows is far from dead

Of course, you can still use Microsoft Copilot in Windows with Microsoft Edge and Bing. The app is an additional feature that lets you use the tool on the go.

Download the Copilot app now at Google Play or in the App Store!
