About ODR
ODR operates a nationwide network of depots and gas stations and distributes as much as 70% of all the fuel consumed in Iceland.
Olíudreifing was founded, among other things, to manage the distribution and inventory of its owners’ fuels. At the time, those owners were Olíufélagið hf. and Olíuverslun Íslands. On the company’s first day of operations, January 1, 1996, distribution began in Reykjavik, Hafnarfjörður, and Hvalfjörður. New locations were then gradually added.
The storage facilities are located throughout the country and have a combined total storage capacity of 350 million liters. On November 1, 1999, the company also took over operations in Isafjordur. From that point on, it handled the distribution of all liquid fuels in Iceland, with the exception of the airports in Keflavik and Reykjavik. Olíudreifing supplies fuel based on both the needs of fuel retailers and customer requests.
The company also operates workshops for vehicles, metalworking, pumps, and electrical systems. These workshops are responsible for the maintenance and further development of the company’s equipment and the technical systems at gas stations.
Initially, nearly all of Olíudreifing’s employees came from the two oil companies or their representatives. In addition to its core activities, the company has also undertaken maintenance work for various other parties over the years.
Today, Olíudreifing employs approximately 130 people throughout Iceland. The company owns and operates a significant number of tanker trucks, freight trucks, and tractor-trailers, in addition to various smaller vehicles. Olíudreifing also operates the tanker Keilir, a distribution vessel with a capacity of 700 cubic meters, which transports fuel throughout the country.
ERP Implementation: Business Central and FuelVision365
This project was carried out in close collaboration with our partner, Advania. Advania handled the implementation of Business Central, while Alistar implemented FuelVision Core & Trips, including customizations for depot management.
The Trips module forms the backbone of this solution. All trips are entered and processed directly through Dataverse. ODR also makes extensive use of FuelVision Sales Surcharges, supplemented by custom functionality for depot operations.
The go-live took place within the planned timeframe and the agreed-upon budget. We have since begun the post-implementation phase, during which only a few minor issues have come to light so far.
