The decorative gravel manufacturer based in Balen has experienced rapid growth over the past ten years. For a company in the chemical industry, this also means a significant increase in administrative workload. The basic IT applications that Sidec was using could barely keep up with the workload.
A single integrated solution that can grow with the business
The IT company Alistar was invited to Sidec because of its track record. Yves Jonckers: “At Alistar, we had the choice between Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a simpler application. We chose the former because of the production capabilities and the standard platform that Microsoft offers. I would recommend that any manufacturing company of our size invest in a single, integrated solution that can grow along with the business. Instead of installing a cheaper application that will quickly reach its limits.”
Because I strongly believe in the power of information technology, I began searching the market for a standard ERP solution and an IT partner with expertise in the chemical industry.
Yves Jonckers, IT Manager
Sidec has invested a great deal of time in analyzing its processes
Alistar then thoroughly reviewed this analysis to ensure a smooth transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. After that, the implementation began. Yves Jonckers: “What we seriously underestimated was the time it would take for our internal staff to get everything up and running. As a manager, you naturally want to get as much information as possible out of a powerful tool like Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. But that also means we had to enter more business data.”
Alistar has kept its word regarding the budget. “The people at Alistar are 100% behind their product and deliver on their promises. We are therefore extremely satisfied with the collaboration with our project manager and the efforts of the programmers,” says Yves Jonckers.
Reporting Module
Meanwhile, Sidec has purchased the Jet Reports reporting module. This allows the company to export all relevant system information to Excel for analysis as part of its Business Intelligence efforts. “We also have a long way to go in the area of CRM. This functionality, which is already included in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, is something we will definitely start using in the future for customer data, sales reports, and complaint handling.”.
I'm also considering a custom module for the R&D department, but that's not something we'll be doing right away.
