An upcoming Dynamics 365 update will introduce a new Copilot feature. This AI tool will make it easier to analyze tables in Business Central, and in this blog post, you’ll learn how you can use it.
What does the update include?
Microsoft Copilot is an AI assistant designed to simplify all kinds of processes in the workplace. The new feature coming soon will allow you to formulate analyses in a natural way, without having to leave Business Central. By describing how you want to structure your analysis—for example, ’show me the suppliers by location, sorted by purchase amount”—you can quickly gain insights without wasting time on unnecessary clicks. You can then make informed decisions and take actions based on these insights.
Here's a concrete example: With the AI assistant, you can identify which suppliers stock each of your warehouses and then take steps to optimize your supply chain or negotiate better deals with your suppliers.
How will the Copilot AI assistant speed up the analyses?
Copilot can speed up your analyses in three ways:
- When creating analyses: From any list in BC, you can provide keywords or a description to Copilot. This allows you to specify which columns, groups, pivot tables, filters, or sorts you want to use to present fields from the table. Copilot understands your desired layout and helps you refine or expand the analysis as you add additional keywords.
- When editing analyses: By telling Copilot what changes you want to make, you can quickly modify an existing analysis table.
- When explaining analyses: Copilot summarizes the information in the analysis table in a single sentence, which is useful if you want a quick overview to share with colleagues.
It is important to note that this feature is only available on existing list pages. It works with most of the fields that are already present on the list page and analysis table, but cannot create new fields.
Below is an example of what such an analysis might look like:
With Copilot-generated analyses in Business Central, you no longer have to analyze everything manually. These insights save you a lot of time and help you make informed decisions.
