‘Minimizing the Impact of Cybersecurity Incidents’

‘NIS2: Minimizing the Impact of Security Incidents’ means taking steps to limit the consequences if they do occur.

Response and Recovery Planning

Response and recovery planning involves planning and preparing actions to be taken following a security incident in order to minimize its impact and restore normal operations. An example of response and recovery planning is having a contingency plan that outlines who is responsible for what, what resources are needed, and how communication should proceed in the event of a security incident.

Lessons Learned

"Lessons learned" refers to evaluating and learning from experiences and outcomes following a security incident in order to implement improvements. This approach allows for the immediate identification of strengths and weaknesses and the implementation of improvements. An example of lessons learned is holding a debriefing after a security incident, during which all parties involved provide their feedback, suggestions, and recommendations.
